About Us
ORIGINS OF SHAKE AND FREEZE®️ DAY
"SHORTS DAY" 🩳 is a publicized "special" day that was originated by us in 1986 ("Chases Annual Calendar of Events") and recently "resurrected" and tweaked into a PARKINSON'S AWARENESS DAY in memory of eight (8) family members with PD! (Mom, Dad, Brother, Grandmother, Great Uncle and Great Aunts)
OUR FAMILY HAS RAISED OVER $145,000!!
WHAT WE DO AND HOW YOU CAN PARTICIPATE
Brrr! Our PARKINSON'S DISEASE CAMPAIGN consists of our big fundraising day, SHAKE AND FREEZE®️ DAY (SHORTS DAY), which is held on the FIRST DAY OF WINTER, the “short”est day of the year. We wear festive shorts 🎄and other attire in order to "shake" and "freeze" so that someday people with PD won’t have to!
Look for us out and about on other days as well as we get attention with music, seasonal props/costumes and give-aways while wearing eye-catching shorts! We can be seen "Parading for a Parkinson's Cure" as we bring attention to PARKINSON'S DISEASE in a fun way while often spreading a little Christmas cheer ... even when it's not Christmas!
* Symptoms of PD are "shaking" (tremors) and
"freezing" (temporary, involuntary inability to move)

As of 1/2024, we have raised $141,422 as TEAM FOX "SHAKE AND FREEZE®️" and have reached MVP status six out of six years!

SHAKE AND FREEZE®️ DAY/SHORTS DAY ❄️ is held on the DEATH Anniversary of DR. JAMES PARKINSON (Dec. 21). WORLD PARKINSON'S DAY🌷is held on his BIRTH Anniversary (April 11).
Yes, there are TWO PD "Awareness" Days!
FYI.... The ALZHEIMER'S ASSOCIATION has a big fundraising day campaign on the SUMMER SOLSTICE 🥵 ("The Longest Day") and now the PD COMMUNITY has a special day on the WINTER SOLSTICE! 🥶 Both SOLSTICES are associated with the top two NEUROLOGICAL DISEASES!
”UGLY SWEATER DAY” is always the Friday before SHAKE AND FREEZE®️ DAY so now you can get two days of wear from that ugly sweater! Wearing festive shorts, socks, ugly sweater, hat, lights can help bring attention to this great cause! Look for our published special day on "special" day calendars. Listen for it to be announced on the radio and TV!
